Week 5 Fantasy football tips
October 8th 2009 18:39
Thanks for reading my week 5 fantasy football tips for the 2009 NFL season. I will list some start em and sit em type information for your team. I usually don’t mention the elite players that you play every week no matter the schedule. My advice for your week 5 fantasy football lineup pertains to players who you may start one week and not the next. I basically go down the week 5 schedule and list ones from each game. You can go here to see my week 5 NFL game predictions. Week 5 NFL team byes- Byes: Bears, Packers, Saints, Chargers
Bengals at Ravens fantasy football impact
I recommend sitting Cedric Benson if you can, the Ravens are fired up and stop the run very well. I do advise starting Carson Palmer and the artist formerly known as Chad Johnson.
I wouldn’t start Flacco unless my other quarterbacks are in a bye. He just does not have great wide receiver to help him. Willis McGahee is a must start and Ray Rice may be as well. Todd Heap is another good player but you probably use him in your fantasy lineup every week anyway.
Cleveland at Buffalo
You may take a stab with Derek Anderson if your other quarterbacks have a bye but that would be the only reason. I do advise using the Browns defense because of Josh Cribbs returns if nothing else.
I think this will be my last time advising using Terrell Owens unless he has a breakout game. You wouldn’t go wrong using Buffalo running back Fred Jackson in week 5 against this bad Browns team.
Pittsburgh at Detroit
I think (as I predicted last week) that Rashard Mendenhall would make his case to play more. Use him he should have another excellent game. I would consider any starting skill player on the Steelers against this bad Lions team.
Washington at Carolina
If Portis is healthy then use him, if not use any backups including John Riggins from the stands. The Panthers can’t stop the run at all. The Redskins defense would be a good week 5 fantasy football lineup addition as well. The Panthers suck on special teams and Delhomme is Cajun for turnover.
I do look for the Panthers to win this game with DeAngelo Williams finally getting some touches. Steve Smith is a good pick to start as well.
Dallas at Kansas City week 5 fantasy football impact
Look for Patrick Clayton to have a huge game as Romo finally figures out who his best receiver is. Romo himself may be a good start in week 5 for your fantasy team. The Chiefs can’t stop the pass.
On the Chiefs I would go with Larry Johnson as the Cowboys defense forgets people run the ball.
Tampa Bay at Philadelphia
I really like the Eagles defense against the hapless Bucs offense. Donovan McNabb would be a nice pick if he looks healthy. I would also go with whoever it seems will start at running back for the Eagles.
Minnesota at St. Louis
The Vikings defense is a must play here against the Rams inept offense. I also like Percy Harvin in this game. Jackson for the Rams could do ok at RB for you, but only if your normal starters are hurt or on a bye.
Oakland at New York Giants
Sit Eli Manning in week 5 for your fantasy football team. As of this writing it is unclear how injured he is and the Raiders do play decent pass defense. However look for Brandon Jacobs to have a breakout game. I would also start the Giants defense in this game.
Atlanta at San Francisco
Vernon Davis is a must start against Atlanta but other than that I don’t see one on the 49ers week 5 roster. I would consider sitting Turner if you can make yourself do it. The Falcons are not running the ball well and the 9ers can stop the run. Tony Gonzalez and I think Roddy White would be good starters for your week 5 fantasy football lineup.
Houston at Arizona
Start whoever you usually would on either team. I am not impressed with either defense. Look for Anquan Boldin to have a good game in particular.
New England at Denver
Wes Welker could have a huge game in Denver with Champ Baily taking on Randy Moss on most plays. I also think Knowshon Moreno could have his breakout game against the Patriots old linebackers. I would also look at Royal in this game; he is due at wide receiver. Sit Correll Buckhalter who is injured and may not play.
Jacksonville at Seattle
T.J. Houshmandzadeh looks ready to blossom finally on this banged up Seattle team. I would start him for sure. I would give Mike Sims Walker the nod for Jacksonville and would consider David Garrard for my week 5 fantasy quarterback if your regular has a bye.
Indianapolis at Tennessee
Of course you start Manning and Dallas Clark. I would add the running back, Brown to the mix against a shockingly bad Titans team. Anybody who may catch a pass for the Colts should be playing as well. Chris Johnson is a must start as he is the only Titan having a good fantasy football season so far in 2009. Kenney Britt would be ok to use in your week 5 fantasy football lineups if you have a 3 or 4 receiver league.
New York Jets at Miami
I would be happy to start either defense in this game against young quarterbacks. But I would also consider Sanchez in a pinch as my quarterback. Ronnie Brown is a decent start for the Dolphins. I hope this week 5 fantasy football lineup advice helps you out, feel free to leave a comment below.
