I am kind of ticked off at WFNZ “The Fan” out of Charlotte North Carolina right now. They recently started a contest where 30 people become eligible for a $8,000 prize package. On air they state “Be caller 12 to become eligible.”
The other day I called when the sound effect went off and was like caller 3, 7 and 12 which means nobody was listening to the show anyway. I was caller 12 and was told that I was eligible and would be put in to have my name drawn. I then go to the WFNZ website and read the contest rules. To be eligible you have to live in the Charlotte Metro, which I do not.
I emailed the promotions department with this info and was disqualified from the contest. I am not happy that they didn’t announce on air that you have to be a Charlotte resident to be eligible. I listen to WFNZ all day when I am driving a FedEx route near Charlotte, and I only live an hour from there anyway.
I am not mad that I got disqualified from the WFNZ contest because they did list the rules on the website. I am pissed off that they didn’t say on air that you had to live in Charlotte.
I am a big fan of WFNZ on air shows and have interviewed their morning host Chris McClain and wrote an article about them being the best sports radio show in the Carolinas in the past. But their management of the “Master of my Domain” contest leaves a little to be desired.
