Worst to first?

February 3rd 2009 23:57
Before all the hoopla about the Super Bowl dies down, allow me to fire one last shot. I should have mentioned this earlier but, I just found out about it today.

So, you have the Pittsburgh Steelers who won the Super Bowl to become the best team in professional football. What about the Detroit Lions who will go down in history as the first 0-16 football team ever? Are they truly the worst team around or just a bunch of guys victimized by bad management?

As you ponder that question, consider this-- just before the season started, the Lions cut fullback Sean McHugh who was later picked up by the Steelers and played as a back-up tight end, catching three passes for 24 yards. Talk about irony!!!!!

This would be a great story if McHugh had a banner year. It's not that uncommon to go from journeyman to the pro bowl with only a change of teams. None the less, lets hear it for Sean McHugh and hope the Lions have a better year in 2009.
